Now you can indulge your spirit of adventure — and still enjoy the top-notch service, comfort, and amenities of an “All-Inclusive” stay at a five-star Iberostar hotel. Aboard the Iberostar Grand Amazon you’ll explore the fascinating Amazon jungle with small boat excursions available to take you even closer to the exotic plants and animals that make this fascinating river an explorer’s paradise. This comfortable, luxury ship will take you on an exciting expedition cruise along the Amazon and Negro Rivers — an ecological paradise where you can enjoy an adventure without sacrificing the comfort of a five-star hotel. And, since it’s all-inclusive, all your meals, beverages (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), excursions, and activities are included in the cost of your cruise!
If you wish, you can view the passing panorama from the balcony of your spacious, air-conditioned outside cabin, which also features a closed-circuit TV, a telephone for internal ship calls, minibar, safe, and ample bathroom with shower and hair dryer.
Aboard ship, you’ll also enjoy the reception area, currency exchange, restaurant, theater bar, pool bar on the terrace-solarium, a snack bar in the pool area, an open-air seating area, fitness room, and much more! Yet the atmosphere is intimate, with no more than 148 travellers aboard with you.

Dining Information

All meals are served in one open seating in the air-conditioned Kuarup dining room. Meals consist of local and international cuisine and are served buffet-style with additional menu items available for order. Meal times are as follows:
  •     Breakfast:    Open seating 7:00 am - 9:00 am
  •     Lunch:    Open seating 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
  •     Dinner:    Open seating 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
The Terrace pool bar is open all day, and the Night Club bar is open from 9:30 am to 1:00 am.

Alternate Dining Rooms
In addition, the covered, outside Grill restaurant on the upper deck serves breakfast from 6:00 am until noon, light fare (salads, hamburgers, etc.) until 4:00 pm, and cakes and sweets until 6:00 pm.

Beverage Service
Enjoy complimentary wine and cocktails throughout the day and evening as you dine in the restaurants or relax at the Terrace pool bar or in the Night Club bar. Please note, however, that drinks must be consumed in the bar/lounge areas or in the restaurants.

Cruise Line Special Meal Requests
The ship may be able to accommodate special dietary requirements, provided requests are received at the time of booking. Please reconfirm any dietary requests with your Vantage Program Manager once you arrive in Brazil.

Onboard Attire
The right clothing can make a big difference in the enjoyment of your cruise. First and foremost, dress for comfort. Daily life aboard ship and in ports of call is laid-back and casual. We encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable — such as sportswear, shorts, sundresses, slacks, and so on.
For the Captain’s Welcome and Farewell Dinners, the recommendation is a dress or pantsuit for women and jacket (tie optional) for men.

Room Service
Room service is available from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm, with a limited menu that you’ll find in your cabin.

Money Matters While On Board
The Iberostar Grand Amazon uses a “cashless” system. Passengers simply sign a receipt for purchases and services (i.e. gift shop or massage) just as you would at a fine hotel. You’ll then settle your account with one convenient transaction at the end of the cruise with American Express®, VISA®, MasterCard®, Diners Club®, or cash.

Gratuities
Tipping is a matter of personal preference and an indication of your satisfaction of the services and individual attention received. We recommend a gratuity of $12 USD per person per day, which may be applied to your shipboard account and settled at the end of your cruise.

General Information About Your Ship

Air Conditioning
All cabins and public rooms on board are fully air-conditioned. Individual cabin temperature can be regulated by passengers.

Activities On Board
There is one lecture daily in the lounge/seating area on various Amazon topics. There is also a small library on board featuring books about the Amazon as well as general reading selections. There are also dance classes, water aerobics, a pool (open 6:00 am to 6:00 pm), Jacuzzi, fitness room, gift shop (logo clothing, sundries, medicine, insect repellent, candy, etc.), and theme parties in the evening.
There are daily treks and cruises that focus on different themes — birds, specific animals, caiman spotting, and fishing. Walks are over fairly even ground and are no more than one hour or one mile. It is recommended that passengers wear long pants, socks (with pants tucked into socks), insect repellent, hats, light raincoats, long-sleeve shirts, and a small backpack.
Please Note: Most of the activities require transferring from the ship to small boats. Embarking and disembarking the small boats may prove to be somewhat difficult for some passengers, but the staff is available to assist. For those who find the hikes a little bit difficult a boat ride option is always available.

Cabin Amenities
All cabins are outside, spacious and of the same size (approximately 250 sq. ft.), except the two larger suites (available upon request only). Each cabin has two twin beds or a king-size bed with a nightstand next to each bed. Cabin closets are large with two sections: four drawers with room for hanging shirts on one side and a full-length hanger section with a top shelf on the other side (life preservers on shelf). There is one comfortable chair for sitting, a two-drawer desk and desk chair, a small table, a minibar stocked with soft drinks and beer, a safe, and a balcony with two chairs that partially recline along with a small table and ashtray (smoking permitted on balcony only). Cabin bathrooms have an easy-access shower, a clothesline that pulls across the shower, a spacious sink area, towels, and shower gel, soap, moisturizer, etc.

Electrical Current
The current on board is 110 volts (a standard U.S. two-pin plug is required).

Keeping in Touch
All cabins have a telephone for inter-ship calls. For calls off the ship, Reception will provide the desired connections (depending on the ship’s location). Please keep in mind that ship-to-shore telephone calls can range from $12–$15 per minute. Please refer to the instructions provided in the information packet in your cabin. There is no Internet connection on board.

Laundry
Laundry, pressing, and dry cleaning facilities are available on board your ship. You will find laundry bags and price lists in your cabin. There are no self-service laundromats on board.

Medical Facilities
There is a paramedic (with medical kit) on board as well as on every launch.
Please note that Medicare and U.S health insurance are generally not accepted on board ships or in foreign destinations. Claims are made upon return to the USA and should be filed through your health insurance provider or through Vantage’s Travel Protection Plan if you have purchased it. All receipts and doctors reports are required to process claims.

Shore Excursions
All shore excursions are included on your cruise. Because this is an expedition-style cruise, each landing takes you to a different area of the Amazon Basin. The port of Manaus is the only typical “port of call” on the itinerary.

Expedition Team
Shore excursions and on-board activities are conducted by an English-speaking expedition team composed of local Amazon guides.

Smoking On Board
Smoking is not allowed in the public rooms of the ship.

Elevator
There is one elevator on board with access to all levels.
