Welcome Aboard

No trip to China is complete without a cruise on the Yangtze River and its Three Gorges. And there is no better way to explore the Yangtze than aboard Orient Royal Cruise’s East Queen and East King, river cruise vessels awarded five stars by China’s National Tourism Administration. Orient Royal Cruise recently completed intensive renovations of the both vessels, setting a new standard for luxury on the Yangtze.

As you cruise, you’ll enjoy a non-stop parade of scenic attractions, including the winding Xiling Gorge, the idyllic Wu Gorge, flanked by craggy peaks and intriguing rock formations, and Qutang Gorge, which is renowned not only for its abundant historical relics and cultural heritage, but for its mountainous landscape as well.

Dining Information

A welcome letter in your cabin will indicate your prearranged table number, or you will be notified by your Program Manager. Breakfast is usually served beginning at 7:30 a.m., lunch at 12:30 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. However, dining times are sometimes adjusted according to shore excursion arrangements.
Shipboard dining offers a choice of Asian and Western menus for your dining pleasure. The main dining room serves a variety of sumptuous Chinese and international entrees. An extensive selection of fine wines from around the world is offered to enhance your meals. For more casual dining or an aromatic cup of coffee, enjoy the Cruise Café located on the Bridge Deck. The Grand View Lounge Bar is the perfect spot for that intimate cocktail and light snack while drinking in the spectacular river views. You can also choose the Sun Deck Bar, which offers refreshments to suit any mood and taste. Make the most of your nights by stopping in Valentino's Night Club, located on the Promenade Deck. Every night is a special occasion with a full schedule of activities, shows and performances.

If you have special dietary requests, please advise your Vantage Sales Agent at least 60 days prior to the sailing. Orient Royal Cruises will do its best to accommodate you.

Special Occasions on the Yangtze

Clothing Suggestions
There is no particular dress code while aboard; casual resort clothing is appropriate for daytime wear aboard ship as well as ashore. Shoes should be flat or low heeled for deck activities. At the Captain's Welcome Dinner, which takes place the second evening aboard, it is suggested that gentlemen wear a jacket and tie and ladies a dress or pants suit.

Room Service
You may order from the ship’s in-cabin Room Service menu 24 hours a day. Additional charges apply.

Smoking Policy
The ship has designated smoking and non-smoking areas in the lounges on board and requests that these be thoughtfully observed. Pipe and cigar smoking is permitted only in designated areas on the outer deck.

Money Matters While On Board

Payments to Orient Royal Cruise are in U.S. dollars. Charges for services provided and products purchased on board the ship may be made by cash, check or charge (VISA, MasterCard, American Express or JCB Card) before your final disembarkation from the ship.

Gratuities
Definitely voluntary! If you are satisfied with the service, the suggested gratuity for the cruise per guest is $20 USD, which will be shared by all of the Chinese crew members. We also suggest $1 per person per day gratuity for the river guide on board. You'll be requested to drop your envelope with the tip directly into the gratuity box located at the desk. Feel free to make an individual gratuity to a staff member who excelled in providing you with personal service.

Ship-to-Shore Communication Charges
Each cabin is equipped with an IDD/DDD telephone system. Ship-to-shore telecommunication from the ship is transmitted via satellite, regardless of the call destination (international or domestic). Note that satellite phone charges are quite expensive, and will be automatically billed to your account .
