3 UNESCO World Heritage Sites
UNESCO
World Heritage Sites are places of extraordinary historical, cultural,
or natural value that are recognized, preserved, and protected by this
international organization. You’ll visit three UNESCO World Heritage
Sites on this river cruise: the Hungarian capital of Budapest, one of
the world’s outstanding urban landscapes; historic Pecs, Hungary, which
features the famed Roman Necropolis; and Hungary’s Puszta steppe
region, which consists of a vast area of plains and wetlands in eastern
Hungary. Traditional forms of land use, such as the grazing of domestic
animals, have been present in this pastoral society for more than two
millennia. |
