You'll cross the International Dateline during your overnight transpacific flight, meaning that you'll arrive in Hanoi on Day 3. Check into your hotel upon arrival, gather for a Welcome Briefing by your Adventure Leader this afternoon. Or, depart earlier for your pre-trip extension to Halong Bay.

DAY 4:

Hanoi

Today, you'll explore this timeless yet modern city during a tour, including visits to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Square for a photo stop, as well as the Presidential Palace and One Pillar Pagoda. Cultural Connection: A vegetarian lunch is included at a local monastery, followed by a visit to the Temple of Literature, home of the Confucian Imperial Academy, university for the country's elite from 1076 until 1779. DAY 5:

Hanoi / Siem Reap, Cambodia

Following breakfast on Day 5, you'll transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, site of your Angkor Wat tour — where you’ll check into your hotel — just steps away from the remarkable Angkor Wat complex. Dinner is included at a local restaurant this evening.

DAY 6:

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Spend all of Day 6 meandering through the centuries-old terraces, pathways, and temples of this sprawling complex on both morning and afternoon Angkor Wat tours, with lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, get a glimpse of local life at the School of Arts, a Cambodian dance school where you will meet some of the dedicated students and teachers.Cultural Connection: Enjoy a traditional Angkor show during tonight’s buffet dinner.

DAY 7:

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Cultural Connection: Head to the Angkor complex for a second tour, delving deeper into the complex and exploring Prasat Kravan, five red-brick towers built in the 10th century. Crossing the Border into Vietnam / Tan Chau

Cruising Sa Dec / Cai Be

Your next stop on your Southeast Asian tour is the peaceful orchard town of Sa Dec. There, you’ll take a tour that includes a flower market and the ancient house featured in the movie The Lover, based on the book by novelist Marguerite Duras. Cultural Connection: Visit a family-owned workshop to learn how local products are made. The afternoon takes you to Cai Be; cruise through the floating market, and make stops at a coconut candy-making workshop and the ancient Vietnamese Anh-Kiet house.

My Tho / Disembark ship / Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Arrive in My Tho on Day 15 and disembark the RV Mekong Navigator, leaving river life behind to visit Vietnam’s most vibrant city — Ho Chi Min City. A panoramic city tour of Saigon (as the locals call it) takes you to the Opera House, the Old Saigon Post Office, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Cultural Connections: Following your tour, a family in Saigon welcomes you into their home for lunch. Then, get acquainted with an ancient art form during a water puppetry show.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Day 16 of your Southeast Asia tour begins with a visit to the Reunification Palace, a former presidential residence that was of great importance during the Vietnam War. It is now a museum. If you like, you may join an optional tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels used by the Viet Cong, with lunch included. This evening, you'll gather with your fellow travelers to reminisce about your Angkor Wat tour and Mekong River cruise during a Farewell Dinner.
