DAYS 1-3:

Depart Home / Cross International Dateline on overnight flight / Arrive Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam

You'll cross the International Dateline during your overnight transpacific flight, meaning that you'll arrive in Saigon on Day 3. Check into your hotel upon arrival, gather for a Welcome Briefing by your Adventure Leader this afternoon. Or, depart earlier for your pre-trip extension to Luang Prabang & Chiangmai.

DAY 4:

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

A panoramic city tour of Saigon (as the locals call it) takes you to the Opera House, the Old Saigon Post Office, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Next, you'll visit the Reunification Palace, a former presidential residence that was of great importance during the Vietnam War. It is now a museum. Cultural Connections: A family in Saigon welcomes you into their home for lunch. Afterward, learn about an art form popular since the 11th century when you watch a water puppetry show. Join your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner toinight.

DAY 5:

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) / My Tho / Embark the RV Mekong Navigator

This morning is yours at leisure, or you may join an optional tour of the Cu Chi Tunnel, a massive network of underground tunnels and chambers built during the Vietnam War, with lunch included. Later today, you'll transfer to My Tho. Upon arrival, you'll embark the RV Mekong Navigator for your 7-night river cruise along the Mekong River.

DAY 6:

Cai Be / Sa Dec

As your Mekong River cruise continues, you'll visit Cai Be this morning, cruising through the floating market with stops at a coconut candy-making workshop and the ancient Vietnamese Anh-Kiet house. This afternoon, you'll continue on to the peaceful orchard town of Sa Dec, where you’ll take a tour that includes a flower market and the ancient house featured in the movie The Lover, based on the book by novelist Marguerite Duras. Cultural Connection: Visit a family-owned business workshop to learn how local products are made.

DAY 7:

Tan Chau / Crossing the Border into Cambodia

Cultural Connection: Visit Cao Dai temple in Tan Chau, where you'll board a sampan for a panoramic cruise to view the floating market and fish farm. Afterward, you'll return to the ship to continue your river cruise along the main Mekong channel, an international shipping route, as you set off for the Cambodian border. Cultural Connection: Listen to a fascinating onboard lecture about "Vietnam, Past and Today."

DAY 8:

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Cultural Connections: Fascinating Phnom Penh comes alive in the best way possible on Day 8 as you hop aboard a cyclo — a Cambodian rickshaw — to tour the city like the locals. Visit the Royal Palace and National Museum before an afternoon at leisure. This evening, a Cambodian children’s dance performance.

DAY 9:

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

As your Southeast Asia tour continues on Day 9, take a tour of the Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek, commemorating a site where 17,000 civilians were killed during the Khmer Rouge regime.

DAY 10:

Tonle Sap / Wat Hanchey / Kampong Cham, Cambodia

On Day 10, you'll cruise the tranquil Tonle River, a Mekong River tributary, and experience daily life along its shores. Cultural Connection: Visit a local Village at Angkor Ban, then hear a talk on "Life on the Mekong" followed by cooking demonstration on board.

DAY 11:

Tonle Sap / Wat Hanchey / Kampong Cham, Cambodia

Cultural Connections: On Day 11 — the final day your Mekong River cruise — visit a secondary school in one of the local villages. Then, pay a visit to Wat Hanchey, where you will receive a traditional Buddhist water blessing from the monks. Later today, you’ll head to Kampong Cham to visit the fusion temple Wat Nokor.

DAY 12:

Kampong Cham / Disembark ship / Siem Reap

Following breakfast on Day 12, you'll disembark the RV Mekong Navigator and transfer to Siem Riep — site of your much-anticipated Angkor Wat tour. Upon arrival, you'll check in to your hotel, conveniently located just steps away from the remarkable Angkor Wat temple complex. The rest of the day is at leisure until dinner at a local restaurant.

Siem Reap

Spend all of Day 13 meandering through the centuries-old terraces, pathways, and temples of the sprawling temple complex on both morning and afternoon Angkor Wat tours. Cultural Connection: An Angkor show will keep you entertained during dinner this evening.

Siem Reap

On Day 16 of your Southeast Asian tour, explore this timeless yet modern city, including visits to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Square for a photo stop, as well as the Presidential Palace and One Pillar Pagoda. From there, you'll explore the Temple of Literature, considered to be Vietnam's first university. Cultural Connection: You'll sit down to a vegetarian lunch at a local monastery, followed by an afternoon at leisure.
