DAY 2: Miami & Little Havana
Today’s panoramic city tour takes you past the palatial residences of movie and sports stars, as we follow the sugar-white sand of Miami Beach to South Beach, home of an eclectic street scene in the midst of pastel-colored Art Deco buildings. In historic Coral Gables, see the venerable Biltmore Hotel, which served as a hospital during World War II. Lunchtime finds us in Little Havana, the cultural, political, and social center of the Cuban-exile community, where we’ll enjoy a tasty traditional lunch in the popular La Carreta restaurant. Cultural Discoveries: During our walking tour of this thriving neighborhood, we’ll drop by a lively game of dominoes, and stop into a café for a Cuban coffee among the locals. A visit to the Bay of Pigs Museum strikes a more somber note, as we hear from a veteran of the famed Brigade 2506, the group of Cuban exiles that was recruited by the CIA to train for the secret, and ultimately ill-fated, Bay of Pigs invasion. He’ll describe his experiences, and give the exiles’ perspective on the Cuban Revolution, which overthrew Cuba’s authoritarian Batista government in 1959.
Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Now that you’ve gotten a sample Cuban culture, it’s on to the island itself, as you transfer to the airport for your short flight to Cuba, where you’ll meet the rest of your group.
