DAYS 1-2 : Depart home / Overnight flight / Santiago / Santa Cruz

If you’ve select the Wines of Chile optional pre-trip extension, you’ll fly overnight to Santiago, Chile. After you clear customs, a Vantage representative will meet you for your transfer to Santa Cruz, located in the heart of the Colchagua Valley, Chile’s most famous wine region. After an included lunch at a local restaurant, stroll to your small, colonial-style hotel, where your luggage will be waiting, and settle into your balcony room. We regroup for a visit to the fascinating Museum of Colchagua, which traces 400 million years of Chilean history, from the oldest fossils to the colonial era and into the 20th century. Enjoy dinner at the hotel.

DAY 3 : Santa Cruz

Relax and enjoy the morning at leisure, then we depart for a home-hosted lunch, where you’ll enjoy real Chilean food in a family setting. Afterwards, we visit a local winery where you’ll learn about Chilean wines in a presentation about the region's soil and climate, the history of wine, and the wine-making process. We’ll also savor an included tasting of the winery's offerings, including Carménère, a traditional Chilean grape. Then play “winemaker for a day,” as you make your own personal wine blend based on what you’ve learned and tasted. Your evening is at leisure tonight, with dinner on your own.

DAY 4 : Santa Cruz / Santiago

Following an included lunch, visit Concha y Toro winery, one of the most famous of Chile’s winemakers, where you’ll be the guest for a private wine tasting. Afterwards, we’ll continue on to Santiago, where you’ll check into your hotel and enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure.
