Baggage Allowance [top]
Although airlines will generally allow more luggage than specified below, the
transportation you will use on tour may have stricter space limitations. If you
plan to purchase goods such as furniture, rugs, etc., shipping arrangements
must be made at the time of purchase.
For ease of transfer, Vantage suggests you limit your luggage to one large
suitcase and one small carry-on bag per person. The large piece of luggage may
be checked on your flight and stored in a motorcoach luggage compartment, while
the carry-on bag should be small enough to fit into the overhead rack on
flights and in motorcoaches. The maximum size (length + width + height) and
weight for checked luggage vary by carrier. Please verify weight restrictions
with your airline directly according to your destination. Airlines may impose a
fee if your luggage is over the specified limits.
Maximum size for a carry-on bag also varies. Remember, soft-sided luggage made
of a durable nylon is lighter and tends to expand to hold more contents. Please
note, some carriers severely restrict the number of carry-on items allowed,
i.e., a pocketbook may be considered a carry-on. Check with your carrier
directly before flying.

you are carrying documents, camera equipment, or any type of medication, please

To help with today's rigorous baggage inspections, airlines have issued
recommendations that make it easier for your checked bags to pass through
screening points:

Do not lock your baggage due to Transportation Security Administration
screening of every checked bag; plastic cable ties may be used instead.

You may use an approved TSA lock for your luggage (available at most luggage
specialty shops).

Place your name and address inside as well as on the outside of your baggage.

Carry valuables such as electronic equipment, cameras, film, cash, and jewelry
with you in your carry-on bag; do not carry potentially hazardous items such as
pocket knives, scissors, razor blades, etc. in your carry-on bag.

Carry necessary items such as medications, prescriptions, and keys in your
carry-on bag.

Many airports will require you to remove your shoes when going through
security; for convenience, you may want to wear slip-on shoes.

Claim your luggage immediately upon arrival.

Prior to your departure, you will receive a complimentary copy of the Customs
Service booklet. This booklet is designed to inform United States and Canadian
residents of key Customs regulations and procedures. In addition, the booklet
lists items acquired abroad that are subject to duty upon returning to the
United States or Canada. If you have questions not answered in this booklet,
contact the Customs Office nearest you.
Luggage Tags [top]
All checked luggage should be tagged with the Vantage Luggage Tags included in
your travel document wallet. Luggage tags will facilitate delivery. Before you
leave home, please indicate your name, address, and telephone number on your
Vantage Luggage Tags. We also suggest that you place identification inside all
luggage as a safeguard.
