Cruising Yakutat Bay & Hubbard Glacier
Today, you’ll marvel at the crystal blue Yakutat Bay and sail past the
mammoth Hubbard Glacier. Your onboard naturalist narrates and will help
you spot eagles, seals, dolphins, and other wildlife of the Alaska
coast. In fact, as you make your way southward, it’s easy to see why
cruising this incredible coast has become so popular — there’s simply
no other way to enjoy these great views!

Sitka
Historic Sitka, whose name is derived from a Tlingit Indian word
meaning “by the sea,” sits on the edge of the scenic Inside Passage.
Here you’ll find an islet-dotted bay and the fresh scent of hemlock and
spruce trees; nearby is Mt. Edgecomb, an extinct volcano.

Skagway
Much of this northernmost Inside Passage port and gateway to gold
country is part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park. While
here, you can celebrate the town’s key role in the gold rush years,
stroll the wooden sidewalks among the restored downtown buildings,
visit one of the many museums, Klondike Gold Rush National Historic
Park, great shops, or journey farther afield into the wild outlands.

Juneau
In this mining town turned state capital, discover the city’s extensive
gold rush heritage as captured in the well-preserved structures along
S. Franklin Street, visit the grand Alaska State Capitol building and
wonderful five-story totem, or venture to nearby Mendenhall Glacier,
fondly known as the “drive-in” glacier.

Ketchikan
The town of Ketchikan is built on docks and pilings at water’s edge.
Explore historic Creek Street, now a haven for contemporary art

Historical Park.

Cruising the Inside Passage
With its nearly impenetrable coastal mountain ranges and an economy
based on fishing and logging, it’s almost a given that the towns of
Southeast Alaska would grow up along the water. In fact, many towns,
even today, can only be reached by sea or air — including Juneau, the
state capital! As you cruise the protected waters of the Inside Passage
— which stretch 1,000 miles from Skagway to British Columbia — you’ll
see cascading waterfalls, virgin forests, glacier-carved fjords, and
perhaps even whales and seals, all with the commentary of your onboard
naturalist.

Vancouver / Disembark
Today you’ll disembark the ship and be treated to a Vantage panoramic
tour of Vancouver, western Canada’s largest city and one of the most
scenic destinations on the continent. You’ll see prominent city sites
— Stanley Park, the Gastown district, Chinatown, and more.
Hilton Vancouver Airport (B) |
