Amsterdam / Set Sail
Get acquainted with Amsterdam on an unforgettable canal cruise, gliding past grand Renaissance homes with distinctive step-gabled architecture. You’ll then take a guided tour of the Rijksmuseum featuring works by Dutch Masters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer. Cultural Connection: You’ll conclude your day with a visit to a diamond-cutting workshop. In the evening, be our guest at the Captain’s Welcome Reception & Dinner.

Cologne, Germany
Relax on deck as you cruise. Soon, the soaring twin-spires of Cologne Cathedral come into view. Step ashore to tour the cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside you’ll see the revered Shrine of the Three Magi. Please note that when the Cathedral is not available, the Roman Germanic Museum will be substituted.

Cochem, Germany
Explore the walled Old Town of this photogenic town on an included walking tour. Relax this afternoon or join an optional tour to fairytale Reichsburg Castle. Cultural Connection: Later you’ll learn about the light, lively and fruity vintages of Germany during an onboard wine tasting. Zum Wohl!

Trier, Germany (Luxembourg)
Cultural Connection: Begin Day 6 with a lecture about the “History of the Romans along the Rhine and Moselle and the Importance of Trier.” Then, discover the oldest city in Germany on an included tour, visiting the Amphitheater and viewing the Porta Nigra (a massive stone gate), the Roman Bridge, and Imperial and Barbara Baths.
Cultural Connection: On a full-day excursion to Luxembourg the next day, Day 7, you’ll pay your respects at the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, solemn resting place for more than 5,000 U.S. soldiers. You’ll also take a panoramic tour of Luxembourg City, with included Euros for lunch at a restaurant of your choice.

Today you’ll enter the heart of unspoiled Moselle Valley. You’ll tour this lovely town’s half-timbered houses on your included walking tour.

Step back into this village’s 2,000-year history on your included walking tour. Hear the legend of the Lorelei Castle as you cruise past it this afternoon before stopping in the fairytale town of Boppard for a late afternoon walking tour. Dinner and regional entertainment will be onboard tonight.

Mainz, Germany
Located at the confluence of the Rhine and Main Rivers, Mainz was once the seat of the Holy Roman Empire. Your walking tour includes a visit to St. Stephen’s Cathedral, home to nine Marc Chagall stained-glass windows. You’ll also visit the Johannes Gutenberg Museum, dedicated to the inventor of moveable type.

Karlsruhe (Stuttgart), Germany
From Karlsruhe you’ll set out on your choice of included excursions: a tour to Stuttgart, where you’ll visit the new Mercedes-Benz Museum, or a guided tour to the lovely baroque town of Ludwigsburg, where you’ll visit a remarkable 450-room castle with a porcelain factory inside.

Strasbourg, France
Bonjour and welcome to picturesque Strasbourg! An included walking and canal boat tour take you to the elegant Palais Rohan; Cathedral Notre Dame; the ultra-modern European Union Parliament; the quaint shops and parks of “La Petite France”; and the Tanner’s Quarter. Then you can get a different perspective by taking an optional balloon ride! Back aboard ship, you’ll enjoy regional entertainment.

Breisach (Black Forest), Germany
Enter the storybook world of the Black Forest on a full-day excursion. You’ll begin in the lively university city of Freiburg, where you’ll visit Freiburg Cathedral, and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Cultural Connection: Next, you’ll watch a cuckoo-clock making demonstration en route to Lake Titisee. Your day is capped off with a cruise on this gorgeous lake.
On Day 14 you’ll explore Colmar, an ancient city on the Wine Route of Alsace, on a mini-train ride with audio guide. Then, enjoy your choice of either the Bartholdi Museum or Unterlinden Museum. The afternoon is at leisure in Breisach or join an optional wine tour to Kaiserstuhl. Celebrate this evening at the Captain’s Farewell Party and Dinner.
