Machu Picchu, Cuzco & Lima 6 Nights from only $1599
Begin your South America explorations with a visit to the legendary Inca and Spanish Colonial cities of Peru — and you’ll add a fourth country to your trip in the process! You’ll enjoy a scenic train ride to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Then stay overnight in a hotel near the famed archeological site — so you can explore in the quiet afternoon hours after the “day trippers” depart. You’ll also visit Peru’s capital cities of yesterday and today: Cuzco — former capital of the Inca Empire and later a Spanish colonial stronghold — and Lima, the modern capital once known as the “City of Kings.”

Cuzco
Enjoy a full-day tour of Cuzco. We visit the Inca Empire’s most important religious complex, the Templo del Sol-Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun); the Plaza de Armas, with its 17th-century Cathedral; the ruins of Tambomachay, known for its aqueducts and canals; and the fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Lunch at a local restaurant is included.

Cuzco / Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu), Peru
Board a Vistadome train for a spectacular trip to Machu Picchu, the mystical Inca city in the clouds. Enjoy an included lunch in a local restaurant, a guided walking tour of the citadel, and dinner at your hotel. (Please Note: Please pack small overnight bag for your 1 night stay in Machu Picchu. The rest of your luggage can be stored at the hotel in Cuzco.)

Board the Vistadome train to Ollantaytambo, a lovely little town overlooked by a huge Inca fortress. Enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant. Stop at the colorful Pisac market during your motorcoach transfer to your hotel in Cuzco.

Lima
Today’s half-day tour of Lima takes in Plaza Mayor, the colonial city center where you’ll view City Hall, the Government Palace, and the Cathedral. You’ll also see Torre Tagle Palace, the suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores, and the House of El Oidor, the city’s oldest home. Admission to the fascinating Larco Herrera Museum of pre-Columbian artifacts is also included. You’ll have the rest of the day free to enjoy the city.

After breakfast, fly to Santiago, where you’ll join Day 2 of the base program.
