The trip has two internal flights (one of 1 hour and 1 of an hour and 15 minutes) on Days 6 and 17. There are two 4-hour transfers by motor coach on Days 8 and 9, with stops for sightseeing ad lunch en route. Return flights to the U.S. may require an early transfer to the airport from your airport hotel.

Physical Activity
Sightseeing will be by air conditioned motor coach. From the boat, sightseeing will be on foot with your Program Manager, with transportation by minivan as needed. Walking is moderate to heavy, with steps and uneven natural terrain at archaeological sites, as well as standing on marble or hard ground. Travellers will also climb in and out of smaller boats.  The M/Y Halas has no elevator and is not accessible by wheelchair or other mobility aid devices. Please refer to Vantage’s wheelchair and handicapped traveller policy in the Tour Participation Agreement found on the Vantage website.

Cultural Focus
This combination of land and boat will allow guests a unique view of Turkey. They will experience the full variety of this fascinating land, including large, bustling cities, resort areas that fade in and out of sleepiness depending on when you’re travelling, more remote villages, wide open spaces either barren or heavily cultivated, and the beautiful, crystal-clear waters of the Turquoise Coast along Turkey’s southwest shore.  The number of days in each place should allow for cultural interactions at a relaxed pace.
There are many historical sites to visit and also lovely land and seascapes to enjoy.  There will be interaction with locals, as well as information in the course of your included sightseeing and Cultural Connections about both the complex history of Turkey and the modern issues facing the nation.

Special Factors
Visas must be purchased on arrival at Istanbul Airport – currently $20 USD per person. Guests might want to bring a pin or small gift for their village home lunch hosts.  Temperatures can be quite warm in May, June and September, very pleasant April and October. There may be some rain in March and November.
