Vantage is committed to giving back to our community and the larger world we travel. Here is a summary of our Vantage Cares projects and other philanthropic efforts:

Chinchero Community
In celebration of Peru’s National Independence Day, 16 Vantage volunteers arrived at the Chinchero Community’s school just outside the Sacred Valley in Peru with paint and brushes in hand. This group of colleagues, which included our South America buyer and several Vantage Adventure Leaders, helped the school’s students repaint the building, filling it with color and spirit worthy of the children who attended class there. The volunteers also delivered company-donated clothes, equipment, and 12 laptops for school use. Identified as a Vantage Cares site in 2016, the Chinchero Community School will be involved in several proposed future initiatives as well. Travelers will visit this unique community when journeying with Vantage Adventures on Amazon River Cruise: Peru’s Wildlife Wonders, Legendary Machu Picchu & The Galapagos Islands, and South American Adventure: Chile, Argentine & Uruguay.

Chinchero Weavers Community
Travelers will get a firsthand look at the ancestral techniques of backstrap loom weaving during a special visit to Chinchero, an indigenous community of weavers located just outside the Sacred Valley. You’ll watch the entire process unfold before you, from sampling and cleaning different types of wool to dyeing the yarn with natural colors from the most diverse local ingredients and the art of using a loom; travelers will even be able to try their hand at spinning yarn for a true hands-on experience. After witnessing this impressive process, travelers will have time to shop from a colorful array of beautiful blankets, garments, rugs, and other community-made goods. Like all Vantage’s featured shopping in South America, our visit to the Chinchero Weavers Community is a fair trade shopping opportunity; travelers can purchase textiles directly from the local weavers, paying a reasonable price for high-quality goods while supporting the community. Travelers will visit this unique community when journeying with Vantage Adventures on Amazon River Cruise: Peru’s Wildlife Wonders, Legendary Machu Picchu & The Galapagos Islands, and South American Adventure: Chile, Argentine & Uruguay.

Vantage Cares: Cuba
In Havana, Vantage Cares supports the Sister Teresa Vaz center, where the dedicated staff provides day care and other programs and services to the underserved youth of Havana. In addition to supporting the day care center, which travelers will have the opportunity to visit on Vantage’s land adventures in Cuba, Vantage provides uniforms for the center's youth soccer program.

Osijek School Visit
In any destination, children (and their teachers) tell a tale that no other local can – one of hope, commitment, and unbridled enthusiasm. In keeping with this idea, we’ll visit an elementary school in Osijek that is supported by Vantage Cares. The principal will give a short presentation, after which we’ll have the opportunity to interact with the children here. Seeing firsthand the impact that travelers like you are helping to make in this region is both heartwarming and gratifying.

Chinotimba Primary School
One of the most poignant ways to connect with locals is by visiting a school – experiencing the exuberance of the children and seeing the hard work of teachers. With that in mind, we visit the Chinotimba Primary School, which offers an opportunity for travelers to meet the students and teachers here and see the impact Vantage Cares is making (with the help of our travelers). You can also see the “Vantage Highway” – a stretch of concrete our philanthropic organization funded to help wheelchair-bound children get to school.

Victoria Falls Market Visit
Victoria Falls is so much more than just a world-famous cataract. We’ll visit a local market in this town to immerse ourselves in local culture, but also to give travelers the opportunity to pick up a few items for residents of the village we visit next. These gifts are much appreciated by the locals, and create an opening for interaction between the villagers and our travelers. This is an opportunity for an experience you won’t soon forget – truly connecting with the people of another culture.
