At Vantage’s exclusive new tented safari camp in Hwange, adventure and luxury go hand in hand in the African bush.

Imagine relaxing around a campfire under shooting stars, sipping a glass of wine as you listen to owls calling to the rising moon. All of a sudden, the ground starts to rumble. It’s a herd of 600 buffalo, passing so close to the camp that the dust they stir up hangs in the lamplight. Or, standing in the shade of an ancient acacia forest while baby baboons play among the branches, you gaze through binoculars at a herd of elephants drifting towards the water hole nearby.

If you’ve been longing to experience wild Africa in a way that’s utterly authentic, but lacks for nothing in comfort, Iganyana has been created just for you. Iganyana Tented Camp is a brand-new, Vantage-exclusive safari lodge in a private concession on the borders of Hwange National Park — Zimbabwe’s flagship safari destination.

This luxury tented camp combines classic African adventure with all the comforts of home. It’s a place where you can connect to the enchantment of the African bush, at ease in a world that’s as gloriously unspoiled as when it was newly created. And Vantage now takes you there on three deluxe African journeys: Best of Africa: South Africa, Zimbabwe & BotswanaUltimate Africa Adventure: Southern and East Africa Deluxe Safari; and Waterways of Southern Africa; A Luxury River Cruise Safari.

Set among Zimbabwean teak trees, looking over a wide, dry river bed, Iganyana Tented Camp is unfenced and unobtrusive, thanks to its thoughtful design and nature-friendly construction. The 15 spacious safari tents are linked by winding walkways of red river sand, and the raised wooden deck of the dining area and lounge offers the ultimate safari view: a golden grassland traced with tall acacia trees, where elephants, kudu, zebra, buffalo, and sable antelope wander up to drink from the water hole just a few yards away.

Despite its understated simplicity, Iganyana makes no compromise on comfort. Each of the luxury tents have electricity, en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, flush toilets, and fluffy white towels. At night, you’ll be pampered with crisp cotton bed linen, soft robes and slippers, and treats on your pillow.

Mealtimes at Iganyana are an occasion to slow down, celebrate, and appreciate. Chef Kulu is a wizard over the coals, cooking up mouthwatering meals, moreish snacks, and tasty treats for teatime. Locally sourced, seasonal produce is prepared with care and attention, and served in finest safari style, either out in the bush, or overlooking the water hole.

Iganyana’s location could hardly be more convenient. From the awesome grandeur of the Victoria Falls, it’s an easy two-hour drive, or a quick 30-minute charter flight to reach the seclusion of this wilderness. The private concession is also just minutes from Hwange National Park, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds when it comes to wildlife viewing.

The wide variety of safari activities at Iganyana all offer a special way to discover the beauty and wildness of Hwange up close. Safari game drives and walking safaris are led by Iganyana’s qualified safari guides, all of whom have many years of experience and are highly knowledgeable about every facet of the bush.

Since Hwange National Park has among the highest diversity of animals of any national park in the world, there’s always plenty to see here. There are more than 100 species of mammals, including all of the Big Five, as well as over 400 species of birds. Hwange is also famous for having one of the largest elephant populations in the world, and you are likely to get very close to them during your stay.

Imagine an African safari where the stillness and serenity is broken only by the thrill of intimate encounters with wild creatures. Imagine discovering the soul-deep sense of belonging that only the African bush can bring. This is Iganyana.
