Welcome Aboard the M/V Santa Cruz II
When you join us on a special Galapagos cruise, we know that only a very special vessel will do. That’s why we’ve selected the M/V Santa Cruz II, specifically designed for navigating the waters surrounding the Galapagos Islands. She has all the amenities of a large cruise liner, yet it is small enough for a close-up experience with nature. She is a 90-passenger luxury expedition vehicle with a crew-to-passenger ratio of less-than 1:2, allowing for personalized service and a more intimate experience.
All cabins on the M/V Santa Cruz II feature lower beds and offer private bathrooms, air-conditioning, hair dryers, telephones, safes, and 110-volt (US-style) outlets.
The M/V Santa Cruz II
is specifically conditioned for Galapagos Islands cruises. You can relax in one of two hot tubs that offer ocean views or socialize with fellow travelers on the Sky Deck. The broad observation platform allows you to spot dolphins and whales as the ship smoothly navigates the rich Galapagos waters during the day, and at night, it’s a perfect spot for stargazing. The spacious passenger lounge is a great place to unwind and view the scenery through picture windows. It also sets the stage for informative naturalist-led lectures, live shows, and folkloric entertainment.
All shore landings are in small groups of 16 in Zodiacs (rigid inflatable boats) with convenient access to and from the boat deck. The ship even has a glass-bottomed boat for an unobstructed view of the sea life below. You have ample opportunities to snorkel and swim. An underwater naturalist helps you with masks, snorkels, and techniques to ensure that you have a memorable adventure.
Special meals: Special diet requests can be accommodated with advance notice.
Gratuities: For good service, the recommended tipping amount is $12 USD per person per day for the crew, and $8 USD per person per day for the expedition team.
Medical care: There is a medical officer on board who can handle any emergencies. The ship is also in direct communication with the other cruise ships and the shore in case of urgencies.
Keeping in touch: Telephone and Internet service is available on board ship. Wireless mobile connection might be possible, but hard from some of the areas.
Electrical current: 110-volt current is available in the cabins, and 220-volt current is available in the lobby and dining room.
Expedition team: The 52-member crew includes a chief naturalist and seven expert multilingual naturalist guides. They will cover all the lectures on board and the different landings.
