Good things come in threes: Three countries, three rivers. But great opportunities come just once in a lifetime. On our Majestic Rivers of Europe: Castles, Cathedrals & Fairytales cruise, sail to Austria, Germany, and Hungary on a 5- or 6-star Vantage river cruise ship and unpack just once for the ultimate journey of discovery.
Learn to waltz in Vienna with the only river cruise company that takes you there for a full two days. Stroll through wooden-timbered villages and step back in time in Germany. And experience a cultural crossroads in Hungary, where the commingling of millennia-old traditions from the Celts to the Romans, Ottomans and beyond form a true panoply of culinary, musical, and architectural treasures. While anyone can take you there, Vantage truly immerses you in the way locals live, interact, and revel with exclusive Cultural Connections like a private classical concert at Vienna’s elegant Kursalon, and an emphasis on memory-making UNESCO World Heritage Sites (with nine to check off on this tour!). Or, add on even more enrichment with trip extensions to Amsterdam or Bratislava & Prague. Whether you’re traveling solo in our cabins built especially for singles, or in a convenient triple cabin, you’ll enjoy the best experience and value, each and every time.
If you wish to travel in the summertime, you may want to consider a departure of Majestic Rivers of Europe featuring Oberammergau, with either the base tour described here or an exciting opportunity to add on more time in Bavaria to see Munich and the once-in-a-lifetime Passion Play. The re-creation of Christ’s life and times is a fascinating pageant put on by the entire village of Oberammergau. Vantage is one of the few companies that takes you there, and we have the best seats for you—don’t miss out!
Nestled deep in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, Oberammergau is one of the postcard-perfect Germany villages filled with charming homes decorated with Lüftlmalerei wall paintings, intricate woodcarvings, and a small tight-knit community of just 5,100. It’s always special indeed, but once every 10 years this village expands to an even larger community of the faithful or just about anyone interested in history for one of the most fascinating, long-running spectacles in the world: the Oberammergau Passion Play. Occurring every decade since 1634, with roles depicting the life of Jesus filled by just about every villager, this 380-year event in the making will be presented exclusively for Vantage travelers on special Majestic Rivers of Europe: Castles, Cathedrals and Fairytales trip extensions. In three extra days, explore Munich and the Alps, and enjoy some of the best show seats and the most enriching features as only Vantage can present them — but hurry, tickets sell out months in advance so you should reserve this experience today.
