Arrive in the Dutch capital. If you purchased your airfare from Vantage, a Vantage representative will meet you and arrange transfer to your centrally located hotel. Today, enjoy a full day at leisure. Perhaps you’ll visit the Anne Frank House (make sure to reserve your tickets well in advance of your trip) the former home and hiding place of the WWII heroine is located in a charming district called De 9 Straatjes (The 9 Streets), a photogenic canalside neighborhood filled with charming shops and bakeries. If you’re an art lover you won’t want to miss the Van Gogh Museum, featuring the world's largest collection of this Dutch genius’ work. You may also consider our optional tour to Zaanse Shanse & Edam, a charming 17th-century living history village.
The Dutch say, “if you only have one day to see Holland, then go to Zaanse Schans,” so we take you there on our “quintessential Holland” excursion. You’ll take a short scenic ride through the countryside to this “living museum” to admire the houses, humpbacked bridges, charming gardens, tradesmen’s workshops, and authentic, working windmills dating to the 17th century. You’ll get a lesson in cheese making, step inside a windmill, and see how a clog maker crafts those unique shoes. Next you’ll go on a guided tour of picturesque Edam, famous for its eponymous cheese. Before heading back to Amsterdam, you’ll try a typical Dutch treat, coffee and cake, at a local café.
Dusseldorf orientation walk, embark ship
This morning you’ll depart Amsterdam and head for your ship to commence your cruise (in either Bonn or Mainz.) Along the way, you’ll stop in Dusseldorf for a walking tour. Besides a charming Old Town (Altstadt), there are plenty of shopping streets, and inviting pubs that will tempt you with a stein of the local Altbier, a Dusseldorf favorite that is dark, crisp, and slightly fruity. From here you’ll proceed to your Deluxe river ship and commence your cruise.

Today, you’ll land in Prague. If you purchased your airfare from Vantage, a Vantage representative will meet you and arrange transfer to your hotel located in the heart of Prague. Settle in and relax, then perhaps you’ll join your City Host for an orientation walking tour in the neighborhood around your hotel. Prague's Old Town, Jewish Quarter, and Castle District
Your discovery of Prague begins with a walking tour featuring important sites like Kampa Park, the statue-studded Charles Bridge, and Old Town Square with its medieval Town Hall and famed Astronomical Clock. You have a choice of remaining here to explore on your own; or continuing with your City Host to the historic Josefov Jewish Quarter to see the Holocaust Memorial at the Pinkas Synagogue, and the Jewish cemetery which dates to the early 15th century. The area, of course, had a turbulent history, but throughout it all a rich culture thrived here. After lunch on your own, you'll tour Prague Castle. Now the official residence of the President of Czech Republic, it dates back to the 9th century. Following an hour-long motorcoach ride through the beautiful Bohemian countryside, you will reach the stunning town of Kutná Hora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town grew up near the area’s rich silver mines, ultimately becoming the second most important town in the Kingdom of Bohemia after Prague. During this great excursion, you will see all of the key medieval and baroque monuments, including the former central royal mint, the interior of St. Barbara’s Cathedral, and the nearby Ossuary — famous for its elaborate decorations made out of human bones!
