m/s River Splendor. This well-paced European river cruise itinerary highlights the wine regions of the Moselle and Alsace, and the storybook towns along the lower Rhine.
EASY & FAST WALKING TOURS: On your Moselle and Rhine river cruise, you'll have a chance to join included walking tours that go at an easier leisurely pace or some that go at a faster clip, depending upon your abilities and preferences. Either way, you won't miss any highlights, and on some tours you'll have free time to walk on your own.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This European river cruise itinerary is a moderate one and features multiple walking tours. You can expect short uphill stretches as you set out on walking tours and through some parts of these ancient towns. Much of the walking on tours is over uneven terrain, cobblestone walkways, and flagstone paths. Panoramic tours use air-conditioned coaches, with some journeys of up to an hour or more. Whenever possible, the motorcoaches will bring you as close to pedestrian centers as the historic preservation of these older towns and cities can allow. Museum visits may include several flights of stairs. The canal tour in Strasbourg requires you to embark and disembark the tour boats via steps or a ramp.
CULTURAL FOCUS: The wine, the romance, and the medieval setting of the towns along the Moselle and the Rhine come together in one perfect itinerary. From the Romans who first brought the vines, to the well-preserved medieval towns, this journey showcases the natural beauty of two of Europe's most beloved rivers and Switzerland, visits the heart of the Alsace, and traces the legends of the Germany's Black Forest.
