No visit to a country is complete without the chance to experience its culture, and this journey includes many enjoyable and appealing opportunities to delve into Egyptian culture. On board ship, we’ll don traditional
galabiyas (also known as
Jellabiyas) for a fun costume party where a vibrant Oriental show with lively music will set the mood for a festive night. Also, on our cruise, we’ll be treated to a transfixing belly-dancing show: a chance to marvel at the precise and controlled movements of this Egyptian style of dance — and perhaps learn a move or two yourself!
And, although you’ll spend most of your time on the Nile cruising in total modern luxury, you’ll also get an idea of what it’s like to sail this great river the traditional way — by wooden
felucca sailboat. Relax as the boat’s lateen sails fill with the breeze, and you contemplate the timeless riverscapes of the eternal waters of the Nile.

Think of photography like you're crafting a good story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Try taking “before and after” photographs of you donning your traditional galabiya for a rollicking onboard party!

Sunrise and sunset are the best times to photograph most natural locations, as the bold, striking colors make the details of the country stand out. Timing your photography sessions for an hour or so before sunset can also make for beautiful photos, as the light lends itself to wide angle landscape images without washing out colors.

Be careful to protect your camera gear from sand and dust in the desert. Keeping it in wrapped in a plastic bag is a simple but effective solution.

Look for different points of view by climbing to higher or lower vantage points, or try picking out landmarks and famous buildings from a distance, showing how they relate to their surroundings.
