Cruise Special Features
Our first Egypt cruise remains a timeless option for travelers who want to soak in Cairo's culture and iconic monuments before an enriching and glamorous Nile cruise. Here's what else you can look forward to on
Ancient Wonders: Egypt & Nile River Cruise:
LUXURY THROUGHOUT
The name of our ship, the h/s
Nebu, is the Egyptian word for gold — and you’ll see why the moment you step on board. Custom-built to Vantage's exacting specifications for the last word in luxury, comfort, and convenience, the
Nebu sets the gold standard for Nile cruising. Spacious and stylish interiors include the luxurious, gleaming lounge and lobby, a restaurant featuring sumptuous international cuisine, a lavish spa, and a modern fitness center. On the top deck, you’ll find a sweeping sundeck and sparkling swimming pool — the perfect spot to start your day with breakfast, spend it relaxing in the breeze, or end it with a sundowner cocktail. Your personal haven is no less luxurious and generous: the
Nebu boasts the largest staterooms on the Nile. One of the unique features of the ship are its four adjoining rooms, ideal for friends and family traveling together. Plus, there are four rooms just for singles.
EGYPTIAN EVENTS
No visit to a country is complete without the chance to experience its culture, and this journey includes many enjoyable and appealing opportunities to delve into Egyptian culture. On board ship, we’ll don traditional
galabiyas (also known as
Jellabiyas) for a fun costume party where a vibrant Oriental show with lively music will set the mood for a festive night. Also, on our cruise, we’ll be treated to a transfixing belly-dancing show: a chance to marvel at the precise and controlled movements of this Egyptian style of dance — and perhaps learn a move or two yourself!
And, although you’ll spend most of your time on the Nile cruising in total modern luxury, you’ll also get an idea of what it’s like to sail this great river the traditional way — by wooden
felucca sailboat. Relax as the boat’s lateen sails fill with the breeze, and you contemplate the timeless riverscapes of the eternal waters of the Nile.
Did you know? The
felucca's rigging dates back to the Roman era, and was the favorite sail of the Age of Discovery because it allows boats to tack against the wind.
PHOTOGRAPHIC HIGHLIGHTS
This journey is designed to showcase Egypt's iconic monuments, from the Giza Plateau’s Pyramids and Sphinx to King Tut’s funerary mask. A good camera and a GoPro are total must-have items for keeping your memories as crisp and preserved as the ancient wonders you’ll encounter. Just remember these pro photo tips:
-
Think of photography like you're crafting a good story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Try taking “before and after” photographs of you donning your traditional galabiya for a rollicking onboard party!
-
Sunrise and sunset are the best times to photograph most natural locations, as the bold, striking colors make the details of the country stand out. Timing your photography sessions for an hour or so before sunset can also make for beautiful photos, as the light lends itself to wide angle landscape images without washing out colors.
-
Be careful to protect your camera gear from sand and dust in the desert. Keeping it in wrapped in a plastic bag is a simple but effective solution.
-
Look for different points of view by climbing to higher or lower vantage points, or try picking out landmarks and famous buildings from a distance, showing how they relate to their surroundings.
-
When it comes to food, try shooting dishes from directly above, using the circular shape of the dishes and a colorful table mat to create a powerful composition that keeps the focus on the food!
