Hai our guide was AWESOME. No doubt the best guide we have ever had. He was constantly in tune with everyone's needs. So informative in all areas. This trip was on our bucket list and it did not disappoint. We met several great people as we always do when traveling.

What a wonderful experience! It was far more than we expected. Han, our Vantage tour leader was exceptional in every way -- his knowledge, his leadership, his sense of humor. The accommodations were outstanding; the Sofitel in Siem Reap was absolutely the epitome of luxury, the River Boat was incredible - large rooms, enormous shower, outstanding service, great activities - nothing could have been better. The sites we visited were fascinating and we learned so much about Viet Nam and Cambodia - a real eye opener and a new perspective on these countries and their histories. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone who is a history buff or adventure traveler - the Ha Long pre-trip is a must. Be aware the schedule is rather aggressive with a fair amount of walking in hot weather but well worth every sort muscle and tired evening.

This was the best of the three trips I have had with Vantage. As Cruise Director, Nguyen Dinh Thanh (Thom) was tops by far. He tuned into the needs of his customers and remained focused on making this a fantastic experience for all. Hotels and the Mekong Navigator far exceeded my expectations. Activities well planned and executed. Packed full of cultural experiences. I am already recommending this trip to friends.

This trip was special. The wonderful warm people of Viet Nam and Cambodia were such a pleasure to meet and work with. The hotels were very deluxe and well located The hotel in Hanoi was older and not in as good conditions as the others but still good with a great location and views of the lake. The river boat was a dream. The home hosted meal in Saigon was disappointing as it was in a "rich" family home with hired help to serve. None of the real local feel that I have had on previous home hosted events. You truly did have to be in good condition, they actually chopped stairs into the shore for us to exit the boat. If you need any aid in walking this is not the trip for you. If I had not taken the pottery village optional tour I would have missed a most remarkable event. We had tea and cookies in the home of a North Viet Nam family who because they had worked for the French lost almost everything. Their home, family pictures and furnishings were works of art. Their stories and love of their country was awe inspiring. Every meal had excellent food and ambiance. The food was so good and such large offerings that I only purchased one meal and that was because I needed a little bit of "home" type food. A wonderful burger/fries at the hotel in Siem Reip was $10, my entire expenditure for food. We had great weather in October very hot almost no rain. The junk boat on Halong Bay provided beautiful vistas and the swim/kayak outing pleased all who could go, again read the brochure well, this trip is for active healthy people. The cave walk was many hundreds of steps (the day we went was the only day it rained and so it was slippery) but was worth the work to get to it. This was my 8th Vantage trip and the host and city guides were among the best of the best. Their was a nice balance of free time I was able to shop, walk about and have 3 massages and felt perfectly safe.

Great hotels in all cities and good transportation. The riverboat was very nice but beware the two suites in front because the anchor goes up and down between them loudly and at many different times of the day. The boat docked tied to trees and the intimacy of the experience was fantastic. We saw the people living their lives. Good value for the money.

This was an amazing tour. Our guide (Boyd) was wonderful. We went at the end of summer and the Mekong flooding season. We also did the pre-trip to Laos and Thailand. Although 26 days is a long trip, I wouldn't miss Laos. Amazing people and countryside. Ankor Wat and surrounding temples were very educational. If you don't do well in heat and humidity, the jungle is challenging, but the history and beauty are worth it. We learned to navigate the streets of Saigon and loved it. HaiLong Bay is not to be missed.

I loved this trip, it was everything I had hoped it would be and one of my favorite trips. It was very cultural and unchanged by tourism, a great mix of country and city. I loved seeing the Alms giving and the river boat ride up the Mekong, the boat was beautiful. The extensions were fantastic.

The trip was well planned and well executed. Our manager was the best I have had yet. The scenery was great and the people in all three countries were warm and hospitable. Chiang Mai was especially nice and the Shangrila hotel there was the best.. All my expectations were met .

This was the trip of a lifetime for my husband, Bill and I. We had so many misconceptions about these Asian Communist countries. They really have a hardworking free market economy. Seeing Ha Long Bay was so special and as an artist, I have completed a number of paintings that will be in juried shows here in Kansas City. Our 3 tour guides were just excellent! They gave such thought provoking presentations on politics, culture and expectations to prepare us. They did their best to provide singing entertainment also. The older movies in the evening on the boat were well suited to our locations and really made history come alive. The hotels were all excellent, especially the Sofitel in Siem Reap.

Strongly recommend taking the Laos/Thailand extension. Hai, our guide is a treat, a real standup comedian with an excellent grasp of English and a notebook to jot down new Americanisms. In fact, I have never had a less than excellent guide on a Vantage trip.

This trip was very interesting. Cambodia was interesting learning about Pol pot and his killing regime. We visited the killing fields and learned how he lured the people to their deaths. He was extremely cruel. We spoke with a survivor. Angkor Wat was amazing! Just amazing and our guide, Paney, was an excellent guide and historian. The hotel in Siem Reap was beautiful! The ship was too large. There was never enough room in the lounge and the chairs were very uncomfortable.

It is a long plane trip across the Pacific, but once there, the boat trip along the Mekong was extremely relaxing, with good food and much to see along the way. We stopped from time to time to go ashore, walked thru villages, visited a rubber tree plantation, watched local girls making candy, had the opportunity to hold a large snake (not me, thank you!), visited a local dance school, walked thru the "Hanoi Hotel" prison where John McCain was incarcerated, took photos by the lake where he was captured, went by bus to Halong Bay where we spent the night on a junk, explored Angkor Wat, and also visited the killing fields of Cambodia, which was a very sad day. One day we took a wild ride in a pedicab thru the narrow, busy streets — lots of fun. This is a very worthwhile and interesting trip, with lots of diversity.
