Today, you’ll have time to wander Russia’s imperial capital on your own. Stroll the canals or head to one of the city’s many parks. Check out the Fabergé Museum to learn about Carl Fabergé’s legendary eggs, delicately adorned with magnificent jewels. Another option is the UNESCO site of Peterhof Palace, often referred to as the “Russian Versailles”. Designed by Jean-Baptiste Le Blond in the early 1700, the lavish fortress and its elaborate gardens were built to honor Peter the Great. Admire its many opulent fountains and marvelous art collection, including historic portraits. Whatever you decide upon, St. Petersburg is sure to mesmerize you.
