Oxford & Blenheim Palace

  • Approximate Cost: $199 USD per person
  • Approximate Time: 8 hours
  • Location: Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England
  • When: Full-day tour

A day of visual riches awaits on this all-day combination tour to Oxford, “the city of dreaming spires,” home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world, as well as stunning Blenheim Palace, ancestral home of the Dukes of Marlborough and birthplace of Winston Churchill. Starting in Oxford, take a tour through the medieval center and the university, including the Old Covered Market, the Radcliff Camera, the Bodlean Library, Christchurch Chapel, and the quad and interior of one of the colleges. (Note that interior visits to the college are dependent on their opening times, which are not published until a few days before.) Stop for lunch on your own and leisure time in Oxford. Then, just a short drive away is Blenheim Palace, set among some of the most famous gardens in England. Your visit includes a tour of the palace interior, the Winston Churchill Museum, the palace’s painting and tapestry collection, and more. You’ll also have time to stroll the grounds, with lakes, lawns, and gardens that are considered some of the finest works of Capability Brown, the English landscaping pioneer.

Jewish Cultural Quarter Tour

  • Approximate Cost: $79 USD per person
  • Approximate Time: 3 hours
  • Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands
  • When: Afternoon Tour

During centuries of persecution in Europe, Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews fled to Amsterdam in order to live and worship in peace. That changed during World War II, when the Nazis invaded Holland and turned a theater in the Jodenbuurt Quarter into a deportation center and this once-prosperous area into the infamous Jewish Ghetto. On this tour, you’ll visit this theater as well as the rest of the Jewish Cultural Quarter, which includes the Portuguese Synagogue and other monuments in this historic section of the city. Join us on this tour that highlights the powerful story of this unique part of Amsterdam.

Please note: On Saturdays, the synagogue is not available for visits and will be replaced by the Jewish Historical Museum.

Castles of North Zealand

  • Approximate Cost: $199 USD per person
  • Approximate Time: 6 hours
  • Location: North Zealand, Denmark
  • When: Daytime tour, lunch included
Explore the beautiful countryside north of Copenhagen and see three of the most beautiful castles in northern Europe. At Frederiksborg Castle, you’ll see the exterior of Scandinavia’s largest Renaissance castle. We’ll also pause for a photo stop at Fredensborg Palace, the Danish Royal Family’s spring and autumn residence. Cultural Discovery: A highlight will be your tour of Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in fabled Elsinore. This exquisite Renaissance castle set directly on the Øresund grew prosperous by levying a tax on all ships that sailed past her. But Kronborg’s real claim to fame is as the inspiration for Elsinore, home of Shakespeare’s doomed hero, Hamlet. During our visit an actor performing as Hamlet’s friend Horatio will lead us through the various chambers, dungeons, and halls where important scenes in Hamlet took place. On our way back to Copenhagen we’ll drive along the scenic Danish Riviera, where some of Copenhagen’s most beautiful soft white sand beaches are. A traditional Danish lunch at a local restaurant will be included.
