What to Expect
• You must be able to walk 2-3 miles unassisted in order to fully experience each destination, such as exploring archeological sites at Epidaurus and Delos, following local pathways on islands like Naxos and climbing steps and steep streets on Santorini and in Athens to enjoy fabulous views. Sightseeing focuses on guided walking tours through historic town centers and at archaeological sites. Steps and cobblestones are to be expected, as well as occasional steep and/or uneven terrain.
• The Harmony V
does not have an elevator and the ship and the tours are not suitable for wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. Please refer to Vantage's wheelchair- and handicapped-traveler policy for further information. Let our Reservations Specialist know when booking if you require the use of an elevator so that they can work with you to select an alternative tour
• At most ports of call, the Harmony V
will dock at the pier so that you can walk from ship ramp to shore. Occasional ports of call will require tendering (shuttling to shore via a smaller boat).
• Visit 10 destinations in 13 nights, with 3 nights in centrally located hotels in both Nafplion and Athens. The 7-night cruise portion includes 8 ports of call, in addition to embarkation and disembarkation ports. There is also one overnight flight from the U.S. to Europe.
• Sightseeing that requires transportation will take place on a private, air-conditioned motorcoach.
TRANSFERS: After flying overnight from the U.S., you’ll arrive in Athens, then transfer is required to Nafplion and your hotel. If you purchase your airfare from Vantage, you’ll be met outside the customs area and the two-hour transfer to Nafplion will be included. (If you plan to purchase your own airfare, ask when you reserve your trip about arranging your transfer with Vantage, at a considerable savings over local fares.)
ABOARD SHIP: Cabins aboard the Harmony V
are smaller than those on Vantage river boats, but are comfortable, fully equipped, and typical of the small ships that cruise in these destinations. While cruising, enjoy daily breakfast, lunch buffets, and dinners featuring international and local specialties prepared by the onboard chef and kitchen staff. Complimentary wireless Internet access will be available throughout the ship, although connectivity may be limited in certain locations on your itinerary.
CULTURAL FOCUS: This is an opportunity to experience idyllic cruising among the most beautiful islands and port towns of the Aegean Sea, to visit some of Greece’s most notable archaeological sites, and to experience the food, wine, and culture of this delightful destination. A home-hosted lunch on the island of Naxos, a sampling of traditional Greek mezes
(snacks) with ouzo liqueur on Mykonos, a pottery workshop in Nafplion, and entertainment by performers who come aboard ship all serve to your deepen your understanding of this fascinating region. In addition, daily lectures by your Cruise Director / Historian provide that is above and beyond what you woud receive from any other travel company.
