Fly to Vancouver
Today you'll fly to Vancouver. If you purchased your airfare from Vantage, a representative will meet you at the airport and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After check-in, enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
Whistler, and a Peak 2 Peak Gondola ride
Today, enjoy a full-day excursion as we follow the Sea to Sky Highway to the mountain resort of Whistler. The route we’ll take is replete with breathtaking vistas, so we’ll stop along the way to take some photos and enjoy a short walk to Brandywine Falls, a beautiful 230-foot cascade. Then, arrive at Whistler-Blackcombe Resort and hop on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, which will whisk us between the peaks of the mighty mountains for which the resort is named. The jaw-dropping views from this gondola, which holds the world record for longest span between two towers for a cable car, will have us reaching for our camera and standing in awestruck silence. At the terminus of the ride, we’ll enjoy a delightful lunch on the mountain. We return to the hotel in time for dinner, and an evening is at leisure.
Vancouver city tour and thrills on the Capilano Suspension Bridge
After breakfast, enjoy a morning city tour, which includes Stanley Park, Chinatown, English Bay and admission to the Capilano Bridge. Originally built in 1889 with hemp ropes and cedar planks, today this popular landmark is a unique and thrilling way to admire the beauty of this area. Later today, you will join the base program.
North America’s highest mountain peak is yours to explore on an exhilarating 4-day post-trip extension through Denali National Park. Just a lone ribbon of road bisects this natural wonder, which is comprised of six million acres of pristine wilderness, alpine tundra, and towering mountain ranges. Even better — you’ll experience Denali in summertime, which means warmer temperatures and less ice, but the same unsurpassed tranquility and beauty. No matter what season you visit, though, you’ll witness small and large wildlife roaming uninhibited, as they have for centuries. Welcome to Alaska, the last frontier!
Denali adventures await
After breakfast, board your deluxe motorcoach and head north to Denali National Park, home to six million acres of pristine nature and Mt. Denali — the highest mountain in North America, clocking in at 20,310 feet! On the way, visit to the home of a local dog musher to learn more about the state’s official sport. A longtime and essential part of Alaskan culture, mushing — or, transport and recreation using a team of dogs — still remains the preferred mode of travel between rural communities here. You may even get to cuddle with some local puppies (no, you can’t take one home!). In Denali, enjoy ample free time to hike, search for wildlife, and photograph your epic surroundings.
Wildlife searching in Denali
Today, travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour, where you’ll search the vast wilderness for bears, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep, famous for their curved horns. This six- to eight-hour journey will be narrated by a knowledgeable local guide, who’ll offer insight into the animals as well as the flora and fauna of this unique region. A snack is included on board. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure, perhaps electing an optional tour such as flightseeing, rafting, dog kennel tours, and guided hiking, among others.
Denali Rail Depot train ride
This morning, you will be transferred to the Denali Rail Depot for a deluxe dome railcar ride to the quaint town of Talkeetna, which sits at the confluence of three rivers. Talkeetna, a National Historic Site, features buildings from the early 1900s, as well as unforgettable views of Denali and lots of local crafts and arts. Enjoy lunch and epic scenery on the rails. This evening, board your motorcoach and continue south to Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage.
After breakfast, you'll head to the Anchorage airport for your return flight home.
