What to Expect
Easy activity level
Cultural Immersion
Each Vantage Adventure is designed to help you fully experience local culture and to get out and explore while keeping active. We find these are the two most fulfilling and rewarding ways to transform any trip into an adventure, and into the experience of a lifetime. To that end, we’ve rated each trip to indicate the level of cultural immersion and physical activity, with “1” being the lowest and “3” being the highest.

CULTURAL IMMERSION: Alaskan culture fuses indigenous, Russian, and Norwegian heritages, and you’ll experience a mix of both ancient tradition and contemporary life during your expedition. You’ll primarily visit small coastal towns that are both quaint, walkable, and reliant on the local environment.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Sightseeing shore excursions in Alaska require walking on some uneven terrain, including in some natural parks. Some sightseeing will happen on deluxe motorcoaches with guides. Travelers should be aware of their surroundings and wear proper walking attire.

TERRAIN: Please expect some walking on rugged paths and slippery and/or icy terrain.

PACING: We spend 12 nights cruising aboard the m/s Roald Amundsen and 1 night each in Anchorage and Vancouver hotels. This active-paced adventure features numerous shore landings, with activities including whale watching, kayaking, hiking, and more.

FLIGHTS: If you purchase airfare from Vantage, you will fly into either Anchorage or Vancouver before embarking the m/s Amundsen.

Important Notice: The above day-by-day itineraries are preliminary and therefore subject to change. If changes occur while on tour, you will be notified by your Vantage Adventure Leader or regional expert. Vantage reserves the right to refuse compensation to any traveler due to itinerary changes not listed on our web site.

Please Note: The hotels listed are preliminary and subject to change. Although we contract our hotels a year in advance, unforeseen situations do occasionally occur. Should it be necessary to change a hotel, one of equal quality and value will be substituted. You will receive verified hotel information with your final itinerary.

Note: That hotel ratings are based on the hotel and a leading travel industry authority on hotels throughout the world.
