After lunch, return to the river and head out to visit a local family to learn about their traditions and customs. Then, stop by a fishing spot to go angling for the notorious piranha fish. After dinner at the lodge, take a canoe out with an experienced guide to see if you can spot alligators.

Iguassu Falls, Brazil

FROM $1,699 PER PERSON | 3 DAYS | $566 PER DAY

When Eleanor Roosevelt first laid eyes on Iguassu Falls, she is famously said to have uttered, “Poor Niagara!” It’s easy to understand what overwhelmed the First Lady. This torrent of water separating Brazil and Argentina plunges over 200-foot-high cliffs in a roaring fury of water. (In fact, Iguassu translates roughly from the local Guarani into “great water.”) Judging from Ms. Roosevelt’s reaction, you’ll want to extend your expedition to view Brazil’s other breathtaking natural wonder. Explore the cataracts from both countries, getting as close to the falls as the spraying mist allows. Join us on this thrilling adventure!

Your Price Includes:

  • 2 nights accommodations in Iguassu at the Bourbon Cataratas do Iguaçu Resort (or similar)
  • 4 meals: 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners
  • Tours of Iguassu Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinean sides, including a Macuco Safari Boat Ride
  • Samba show
  • All transfers and baggage handling (where permitted)
  • Services of a City Host and Adventure Leader
  • Tipping for drivers and local guides (excluding City Host)
  • Services of the Vantage Worldwide Concierge, to plan celebrations, activities, or provide regional expertise. Log into My Portfolio and submit a request, or send an email any time up to two weeks prior to your departure at Concierge@vantagetravel.com

DAY 18:

Fly to Iguassu Falls for a day of trekking and a wet and wild Macuco Safari Boat Ride

Fly to Iguassu this morning and check into your hotel on the Brazilian side of the falls. Unforgettable Moment: Begin with a walking tour that includes views of Devil’s Throat, the largest of Iguassu’s 275 waterfalls, where torrents crash into a narrow canyon. The tour will end at Puerto Canoas, where you’ll have lunch on your own. Then, keep the adventurous momentum going with a Macuco Safari Boat Ride!

First, an open trolley ride brings you through the dense rain forest where you’ll view flowers, birds, butterflies, and even centenarian trees. Then, snap some photos or video footage when you board special speedboats bound for Iguassu’s gorge. And get ready to get wet! Your experienced river pilots, who know these waters extensively, will give you a thrilling ride through some of the rapids, guiding you right up next to the splashing cascades. (Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, casual clothes, and prepare to get soaked!)

Included Meals:

Dinner

DAY 19:

Walk across the falls, feel the beat during a samba show

About 80% of the falls are in Argentina, so you’ll cross the border today for more breathtaking perspectives. You’ll view the park from the Upper Trail, where you’ll enjoy an eye-popping vantage point as you literally walk across the water! Enjoy a leisurely lunch in the park on your own, then return to the hotel.

Cultural Discovery: After Farewell Dinner in the hotel this evening, we’ll capitalize on the spirit of this region with a night on the town. Drinks and a lively samba dance show are on the menu, and you'll learn more about this dance and musical genre that has roots in African religious tradition.

Included Meals:

Breakfast & Dinner

DAY 20:

Fly home

Head to the airport for you flight back to the U.S.
