Join us for the ultimate safari experience in the Okavango Delta. This trip offers an unmatched safari experience and is the ideal prelude to your adventure. This watery wilderness is teeming with wildlife, ranging from wildebeest, baboons, and buffaloes, to elephants, lions, and leopards. You’ll have close encounters with animals from a variety of different perspectives, including game drives, walking safaris, and expeditions in traditional dugout canoes called Mokoros. This exquisite and remote setting is one of the most famous and secluded regions of southern Africa, only accessible by charter flights.
Your adventure begins with an overnight flight to South Africa.
Arrive in Johannesburg, an epicenter of South African history
On your arrival in Joburg, as this bustling city is affectionately known, you’ll transfer to your hotel. You’ll have the rest of the day to relax and unwind after your travels. Your evening is at leisure.
Venture to the Okavango Delta in Botswana
This morning, you’ll transfer back to the airport for your flight to Maun. This is followed by a scenic charter flight to your lodge in the Okavango Delta, which gives you an amazing aerial view over the winding blue waterways. Once you’ve settled in to your luxurious safari tent, you’ll get your camera and binoculars ready for the first of many wildlife sightings on an afternoon safari activity. Dinner is at the lodge this evening
Explore the lush wilderness of the Okavango
The Okavango is unique: a fertile wetland in the heart of an arid territory. The result is a fascinating ecosystem that will enthrall us as we explore it in a variety of ways. Rra Dinare is in an exclusive private concession adjacent to Moremi Game Reserve with excellent game viewing year-round. We’ll embark on safari game drives (both day & night) with just six travelers per vehicle. We’ll have an experienced driver guide and expert tracker whose eagle-eyed spotting and encyclopedic knowledge will enhance our game viewing. Since we’re on a private concession, we’ll be able to drive both on and off road, allowing us the freedom to follow wildlife wherever they lead.
Discover the wildlife of this unique ecosystem
We have morning and afternoon safari activities through which to discover more of this wildlife wonderland. We might also enjoy an exploration of the Okavango’s waterways on a traditional dugout canoe known as a Mokoro. As we navigate the lush lagoons and reed-fringed canals, we’ll see wildlife from a thrillingly new perspective. The quiet is only broken by the breeze, the calls of pied kingfishers, the gentle splash of your guide’s ngasha (pole/oar) pushing off in the water, and the occasional chortle of a hippo or roar of a lion.
Fly from Maun to Johannesburg to start base tour
After breakfast, we’ll take a scenic charter flight back to Maun Airport in time for our flight to Johannesburg airport to join your base tour on Day 2.
