Let us entertain you: Music
We associate cities like Prague and Vienna with the great composers, but there’s much more to the musical culture of Central Europe than that. You’ll get a rousing taste of music and dance in the for broader scope when you attend an evening extravaganza at the Berlin’s Friedrichstadt Palace theater. Then, in the Czech Republic, we’ll visit a family castle closely associated with renowned composer Antonin Dvorak, where you’ll be treated to a private lunch and a chamber concert featuring the Dvorak’s compositions. In Vienna, the home of Johann Strauss, “The Waltz King,” enjoy a concert at the elegant Kursalon music hall featuring the music of Strauss and a graceful performance of the waltz and other dances of Old Vienna. To round out your musical experience, your program includes two lectures: One a lively look at the life of debutantes and their coming out parties as told through the story of Martin Luther’s young wife, Katharina von Bora, and the other, “Musical Vienna,” that provides a glimpse of the music and personalities that have emerged from the Austrian capital.
