That’s why we’ve built in many opportunities for you to keep active while you immerse yourself in South America’s rich cultures. During your South America adventure, longer walks are included on many excursions, such as the city tour in Montevideo and the nature tour in Iguassu Falls; however, you always have the option of doing a shorter walk. You may also rent bicycles in Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro.
To promote healthy living, all hotels included on this South America travel itinerary have a pool, spa, and fitness facilities. Plus, we always offer alternatives at mealtimes to suit your preference, whether vegetarian, diabetic, or any other type of diet so long as we receive your requests at the time of booking.
Biking in South America
Our Adventure Leaders have suggested a few locations where you may have free time during your South America vacation to enjoy safe and easy bike rides. First, there’s Buenos Aires, a city that has recently invested in developing more than 60 miles of bike lanes (ciclovías or bicisendas ) that weave among the city’s leafy avenues and parks. In Chile, Santiago boasts about 100 miles of relatively flat bike paths, many of them protected greenways. Rio is perhaps the most bike-friendly city featured on your South America vacation, with about 283 miles of bike lanes. Easy riding and seaside views await along the beach paths, especially in Copacabana, where there are many exclusive bike tracks. Rio’s SAMBA public bike system has 60 stations and 600 bicycles distributed in Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Lagoa, Jardim Botanico, Gávea, Botafogo, Urca, Flamengo, and Downtown. Your Adventure Leader can explain how to rent bikes and where to ride during your South America travel itinerary. Here are some sample maps:
