What to Expect
Each Vantage Adventure is designed to help you fully experience local culture and to get out and explore while keeping active. We find these are the two most fulfilling and rewarding ways to transform any trip into an adventure, and into the experience of a lifetime. To that end, we’ve rated each trip to indicate the level of cultural immersion and physical activity, with “1” being the lowest and “3” being the highest.
Australia and New Zealand are brimming with cultural highlights. Though at times the culture Down Under may seem very similar to your own, not a day will pass when you don’t witness small nuances or experience a major cultural shift. To be sure, the most prevalent thing you’ll notice about Aussies and Kiwis is a laid-back, “no worries” attitude that seems to always keep smiles on their faces. Our small group size affords many opportunities to participate in local traditions during, for instance, a home-hosted meal in Queenstown and a fascinating Dreamtime tour with an Aborigine guide in Daintree National Park.
Sightseeing is via deluxe, air-conditioned motorcoach. All tours involve some walking to and from motorcoaches, in museums, and in some areas of the Outback. There is minimal stair climbing on this New Zealand and Australian vacation.
15 nights, with included excursions and cultural activities. In New Zealand, we stay 3 nights in Auckland and 4 nights in Queenstown. In Australia, stay 4 nights in Sydney and 4 nights in Cairns. Some of our daily excursions last a full day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while other days offer a half day of sightseeing with some free time. Transportation modes include planes, buses, and two long motorcoach transfers in New Zealand. During long coach drives, rest stops and visits en route are arranged.
There is one early morning on your itinerary so that you can catch an early flight. Flights to New Zealand and Australia travel from the U.S. are very long and tiresome. You may choose to break up your trip with an optional overnight stay in Los Angeles, California, or take our optional 5-day post-trip extension to Melbourne & Ayers Rock. As you travel to the South Pacific from the U.S., you lose a day when you cross the International Date Line; you gain it back upon your return.
The seasons are in reverse from those in the U.S., so pack clothing that is appropriate.
